The Outage

Some of you may have noticed that last night the forum was either exceptionally slow loading or simply did not load at all. According to <a href='http://forum.jcink.com/index.php?showtopic=14945&view=findpost&p=127832' target='_blank'>Jcink</a>:

Quote:At around 9PM we suffered a very serious DDoS attack against our network that is still ongoing. The site is being put online because we've been able to diffuse some of the flames. We know who is responsible and are working on bringing some justice on that front as well as trying to improve things on our end.

I apologize deeply for the downtime. These people do not have regard for how many users they're causing pain for and I will be doing something about it.

This means we can expect, for the next few days or until the problem is solved, to see slow responses on the forum. (This is while Jcink handles the attack and gets things back to normal.)
As well because the attack is not over, it may be that we are unable to access the forum again.

Just to let people know, we're encountering a bit of a situation with the forum host. Service is slow or unresponsive to even giving errors at worst. The forum host currently is unsure what is going on. And there is no idea how long it will last, or what is even really going on.

My personal guess is a DDoS attack. (Distributed Denial of Service attack - where many computers request info from a server and flood it, blocking out legitimate users.) Though this is only a guess and has NOT been confirmed by Jcink or his staff.

EDIT- <a href='http://twitter.com/Jcink' target='_blank'>Jcink has confirmed</a> that it is another DDoS attack. As well he is working on getting it sorted out again.
