A Handmaid's Tale is a tv series based around Canadian Author Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name.

The series sees America torn into pieces by multiple catastrophic events, especially a large scale infertility problem. The resulting new America (called Gilead) rises with a series of draconian laws... Most people's rights are revoked and many women (especially those who have recently given birth) are rounded up. Those women are sent for special "training" to become Handmaids. (Women who serve only to get pregnant.)

The series follows one such handmaid... Offred.
